Harboring fond memories of his childhood in South Africa, the client asked to fashion his
new powder room after an African theme, with niches to display his favorite artifacts.
The small space is treated like poetry: in a few "verses" the room is filled with African essence, via materials and shapes. It is a product mix of unconventional powder room elements: wood-lined walls, leather vanity, chiseled limestone counter, slate flagstone flooring, natural branches, all engaged to capture the earthiness of the African landscape.
The tall thin niche right across entry was made for a wood sculpture of an elongated African man greeting the guests. The persisting wood fragrance and fond memories keep the client happy, even Out of Africa.
